Relating to school calendars [SB-242]
The purpose of this bill is to modify primary and secondary school instructional terms. The bill removes the word “separate” throughout the section as it relates to the number of instructional days in the school calendar. The bill requires that the instructional term for students begin no earlier than August 10, and end no later than June 10, except for schools operating on a balanced calendar. Relating to the administration of the statewide summative assessment [HB-2333]

Relating to prohibiting aiding and abetting of sexual abuse by school personnel [SB-256]
The purpose of this bill is to enact a state statute required by the federal government to be in compliance with the Every Student Succeeds Act and the requirements in 20 U.S.C. § 7926. More specifically, the bill’s purpose is to prohibit school personnel who have engaged in sexual misconduct with students or minors from being assisted to find new employment without having that misconduct reported to the appropriate authorities and investigated.

The bill changes the early childhood education program age attainment date requirement from age four prior to September 1, to age four prior to July 1. The bill changes the age for which compulsory attendance begins to those who attain age six by July 1, of each year.
