Relating to a student not advancing to the next grade by teacher recommendation [HB-2766]
The purpose of this bill is to provide that parents cannot overrule a teacher’s recommendation that a student not be advanced to the next grade unless the student is retested over summer break and can demonstrate proficiency in areas for which the teacher recommended the that the student not be advanced.

Educational Equality Act [HB-2457]
The purpose of this bill is to create the Educational Equality Act. The bill authorizes a $500 tax credit per child for parents and legal guardians whose children attend a nonpublic school. The bill prohibits the creation of additional regulations over the education of a child whose parent or legal guardian receives the tax credit. The bill authorizes rulemaking.

Providing a bonus for teachers willing to teach in certain critical needs areas [HB-2013]
The purpose of this bill is to encourage additional teachers to teach in critical needs areas of math, science and special education by authorizing bonuses. The bill would increase the state minimum salary of special education teachers and teachers of mathematics and computer science in grades 7 through 12 by $2,000. The teacher must be fully certified with the appropriate programmatic level and specialization recognized on his or her professional license.Â

Relating to seniority rights and school consolidation [HB-2093]
The purpose of this bill is to permit classroom teachers or school service personnel who at the time of a school merger who are the sole occupants of the same positions that will exist at the new school to maintain that position at the new school. The bill requires the posting of service, professional or administrative positions only when duplicate positions exist.
