The purpose of this bill is to revise, rearrange, consolidate and recodify the laws of the State of West Virginia relating to child welfare and juvenile disposition. Chapter 49 of the Code of West Virginia has been completely rewritten; therefore, it has been completely underscored. This bill was recommended for introduction and passage by the West Virginia Judiciary’s Court Improvement Board. It is the product of a bi-partisan effort of all the stakeholders to streamline the child welfare laws in this state.

Relating to "out-of-home" child placement system [SB-401]

Clarifying code for Community-Based Pilot Demonstration Project to Improve Outcomes for At-Risk Youth [SB-253]
The purpose of this bill is to amend language in the code for accuracy and clarification concerning the special community-based pilot demonstration project. The bill changes “President of the Community and Technical College System” to “Chancellor of the Community and Technical College System”. It also adds the word “preschool” following the reference to increased enrollment of four-year olds in Section 4.
