Relating to the investigation and prosecution of cases involving child abuse and neglect [HB-2022]
The purpose of this bill is to aid in the investigation and prosecution of cases involving child abuse and neglect. In any case where a multidisciplinary investigative team suspects an uncooperative parent, guardian, or custodian of child abuse, the Department of Health and Human Resources would be authorized to take temporary protective custody of the child in order to safely conduct a team interview with the child at a child advocacy center.

Increasing penalties for underage use or possession of tobacco [SB-27]
The purpose of this bill is to increase the penalties for use or possession of tobacco or tobacco products by a person under eighteen years of age. The bill increases fines and community service requirements, and upon a second offense, provides for revocation of the person's junior or graduated driver's license until eighteen years of age, or if the person does not yet have a junior or graduated driver's license, the person is ineligible to apply for any type of driver's license until eighteen years of age.
