Preexisting Condition Patient Protection Act of 2009 [HB-1558]
Preexisting Condition Patient Protection Act of 2009 - Amends the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA), the Public Health Service Act, and the Internal Revenue Code to prohibit a group health plan from: (1) imposing any preexisting condition exclusion; or (2) providing for an affiliation period for coverage offered by a health maintenance organization (HMO). Insurance Industry Competition Act of 2009 - Amends the McCarran-Ferguson Act to make the Federal Trade Commission Act, as it relates to areas other than unfair methods of competition, applicable to the business of insurance to the extent that such business is not regulated by state law. To direct the Secretary of Defense to notify members of the Armed Forces and State military departments of exposure to potentially harmful materials and contaminants. [HB-1657]
Requires the Secretary of Defense: (1) in the case of a member of the Armed Forces who is exposed to a potentially harmful material or contaminant, to notify the member of such exposure and any associated health risks; and (2) in the case of a member of a reserve component, to also notify the state military department of that member. Directs the Secretary, if such a determination is made while a member is deployed, to notify the member while the member is so deployed.
