Commission on the Social Status of Black Men and Boys Act
This bill aims to create a Commission on the Social Status of Black Men and Boys to study and make recommendations on addressing various social problems affecting Black men and boys in the United States. These problems include disparities in education, criminal justice, health, employment, fatherhood, mentorship, and violence. The bill highlights the negative impact of these challenges on national productivity, Black families, and communities.
The Commission will be tasked with investigating civil rights violations affecting Black men and boys, such as unequal profiling by police and harsh sentences in the judicial system. The bill also emphasizes the need to address issues related to poverty, education, employment, incarceration, and health disparities faced by the Black male population.
The Commission will consist of appointed members from various governmental agencies, organizations, and experts in relevant fields. Their responsibilities will include conducting studies, proposing measures to alleviate underlying causes, accepting suggestions and comments, and producing an annual report on the current conditions affecting Black men and boys.
Members of the Commission will serve without compensation, and meetings will be conducted regularly to address significant issues impacting the Black male population. All reports and minutes of meetings will be made public through a centralized Federal website to ensure transparency and accessibility.
