An Act To Amend Title 10 Of The Delaware Code Relating To Limitations On Noneconomic Damages For Personal Injury Or Wrongful Death Occurring At Special Events. [SB-14]
This Act is intended to promote the development of Special Events hosted by non-profit organizations not more often than once per calendar year by placing a liability cap on noneconomic damages [like pain and suffering] awarded for personal injury or wrongful death. There is no limitation on economic damages [like lost wages and medical bills], nor is there any limitation where gross negligence or intentional actions cause the damages, nor does it limit punitive damages. An Act To Amend Titles 16 And 29 Of The Delaware Code With Respect To Drug Overdose Fatalities. [SB-174]
This legislation creates a Drug Overdose Fatality Review Commission, similar to commissions that the state has in place to review child deaths and the deaths of domestic violence victims. The purpose of the Commission is to examine the facts and circumstances of deaths resulting from prescription opioid, fentanyl and heroin overdoses and make recommendations to the state based on those examinations as to how to prevent future overdose deaths.
