This Bill adopts the emergency suspension provision already included in the Medical Practice Act for boards and commissions regulated under Titles 23 and 24 of the Delaware Code to enable a temporary suspension pending a hearing to be issued upon the written order of the Secretary of State or the Secretary’s designee, with the concurrence of the Board chair or the Board chair’s designee if the activity of the licensee presents a clear and immediate danger to the public health. The Interstate Wildlife Violator Compact (IWVC) is a nationwide law enforcement network aimed at preventing lawbreakers who have lost their hunting, fishing, and/or trapping privileges in one state due to egregious crimes, such as poaching against wildlife or fisheries resources, from carrying out those activities in other states. By joining 39 other compact states in this agreement, Delaware would gain access to license suspensions in other compact states and allow license suspensions in our own state to be shared with compact states. An Act To Amend Title 16 Of The Delaware Code Relating To The Regulation Of Hospices And To The Uniform Controlled Substances Act [SB-119]
This bill addresses the prescription drug abuse epidemic in Delaware by promoting safe disposal of prescription drugs by hospice programs and their clients. This bill will require the Department of Health and Social Services to establish and implement uniform protocol for all hospice programs operating in Delaware for the safe disposal of unused medication upon the death or discharge of an in-home hospice patient. This bill also prohibits non-pharmacy practitioners from dispensing controlled substances beyond a 72 hour emergency supply and requires

An Act To Amend Title 16 Of The Delaware Code Relating To Invasive Medical Procedure Facilities. [SB-140]
Recently the Department of Health and Social Services promulgated rules for the regulation and accreditation of medical facilities that perform invasive medical procedures. This bill builds on that effort by allowing a complaint from an employee of the facility. Facilities must be accredited by independent agencies. Finally, the bill requires the Department to promulgate rules and regulation based on this statute within 6 months of enactment.
