An Act To Amend Title 6, Title 25 And Title 29 Of The Delaware Code Relating To Consumer Protection. [HB-247]
This bill presents extensive revisions to Chapter 25 of Title 6, and to Chapter 25 of Title 29, pertaining to consumer protection, in order to bring greater clarity and consistency to the statute and to strengthen and increase the enforcement authority of the Department of Justice. Specifically, the bill adds new administrative powers to give the Director of the Consumer Protection Unit of the Department of Justice similar authority to what is provided to the Securities Commissioner in Chapter 73 of Title 6. An Act To Amend Title 6 Of The Delaware Code Relating To The Delaware Charitable/fraternal Solicitation Act Of 1996. [HB-248]
This Act will require, among other things: (1) the registration of all charitable organizations domiciled in Delaware and/or soliciting Delaware citizens and the annual disclosure of certain financial information relating to these entities; and (2) the registration of professional fund-raising counsel/professional solicitors soliciting Delaware citizens and the annual reporting of certain financial information relating to these entities. An Act To Amend Title 11 Of The Delaware Code Relating To Specific Offenses And Sale And Distribution Of Tobacco Products. [HB-269]
This bill requires a person engaged in the sale or distribution of tobacco products to demand proof of age from a prospective purchaser or recipient of such products who is under the age of 27 years. A notice is to be posted conspicuously at each tobacco vending machine as well as at each point of purchase. Also, the bill makes it unlawful to maintain such products except in a tobacco vending machine in any display accessible to customers that is not under the control of a cashier or employee.
