This Act allows parents and guardians who successfully challenge the denial of services to their children with special needs to recover the costs of expert witnesses that they needed to hire to advocate for their children. An Act To Amend Title 16 Of The Delaware Code Relating To Investigating The Abuse Of Children. [HB-371]
This Act ensures that the investigation and disposition of cases of child abuse or neglect are conducted in a comprehensive, integrated and multi-disciplinary manner, thereby significantly reducing existing communication and coordination gaps in the investigation and disposition of such cases. Section 1 amends 4972 of the Delaware Insurance Company Mutual-to-Stock Conversion Act (“Act”) by making technical changes to definitions of terms used in the Act to provide clarity and further flexibility. This Act will allow expanded early stage investment of capital into targeted Delaware businesses, thereby assisting in the creation of jobs. The Act provides tax credits for investments into targeted small businesses that have been certified by the First State Angel Investment Council (FSAIC). The FSAIC FSAIC will review applications submitted by small businesses meeting the eligibility requirements. An Act To Amend Title 16 Of The Delaware Code Relating To Tanning Facilities. [HB-400]
This Bill will prohibit use of tanning devices at a tanning facility by someone under the age of 18 unless that person has a medical prescription. That prohibition is presently the law in Delaware for people under the age of 14. Someone between 14 and 17 currently needs to only have a parent’s consent. This Bill will also require tanning facilities to post warning signs and provide written warning statements to customers.
