Public Service Worker Protection Act
This bill aims to amend the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 to extend its coverage to public employees. This means that public employees will now be protected by the safety and health regulations outlined in the Act.
Specifically, the bill modifies Section 3(5) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act to include public entities such as the United States, States, and political subdivisions of States within its coverage. It also clarifies that the bill does not alter the application of section 18 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act.
The effective date of this Act and its amendments will be 90 days after its enactment, except for workplaces of States or political subdivisions without an approved state plan under section 18, which will have 36 months to comply.
