No Guns for Abusers Act of 2019 [HB-1287]
Authorizes the Department of Justice (DOJ) to make grants for state and local governments to implement procedures to remove firearms from individuals who are charged with or convicted of domestic violence or subject to a domestic violence protective order. Acupuncture for Our Heroes Act [HB-1182]
Requires the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to provide qualified acupuncturist services to veterans enrolled in the VA health care system. A qualified acupuncturist is an individual who is licensed, certified, or otherwise accredited and may be appointed as an employee of the VA or as a contractor. The VA shall carry out such program in at least one VA facility in each Veterans Integrated Service Network (regional VA health care administrative areas) in both urban and rural areas. Climate Action Now Act [HB-9]
Requires the President to develop and update annually a plan for the United States to meet its nationally determined contribution under the Paris Agreement on climate change. (Sec. 3) In addition, the bill prohibits federal funds from being used to withdraw from the agreement. (Sec. 4) The bill outlines what must be included in the plan, including descriptions of steps to (1) cut greenhouse gas emissions by 26%-28% below 2005 levels by 2025, and (2) confirm that other parties to the agreement with major economies are fulfilling their announced contributions.
