An act to amend the public health law, in relation to requiring the New York state department of health to develop and post signage describing the importance of hand hygiene in all restrooms, gymnasiums and locker rooms located in public and private schools [AB-5487]
This legislation seeks to address the national health outbreak caused by antibioticresistant methicillin resistant staph aureus (MRSA). Cases of this potentially life-threatening infection have been reported in New York State as well. MRSA and other contact-related infections can be avoided or eliminated through simple hand-washing and hygienic care.

An act to amend the real property actions and proceedings law, in relation to requiring that certain public housing authorities establish an innocent tenant protection act applicable to tenants of public and federally assisted housing [AB-5539]
The Innocent Tenants Protection Act, section 711-a, will amend the real property and proceedings law. This act authorizes public housing authority and owners of federally assisted housing to use leases providing protection rights for tenants who are either unaware of or attempted to put an end to any criminal or drug related activity committed by a family member on or off public assisted housing premises in the state of New York.
