An act to amend the agriculture and markets law, the environmental conservation law and the tax law, in relation to establishing the equine industry assistance act of 2009, including the New York horse grazing program and providing an appropriation therefor [AB-5108]
This bill works to promote equine operations in the State through upgrading the Department of Agriculture and Markets equine web page; ensuring that horse trails are always considered when recreational plans are being developed on state land; promoting horse-back riding trails as a tourism destination; providing incentives for the development of horse grazing extension; and ensuring that commercial horse boarding operations are eligible for the Farmers School Tax Credit. An act to amend the education law and the state finance law, in relation to enacting the New York state nursing shortage correction act [AB-5250]
This bill would address the problem of nursing shortages by creating educational incentives. With these incentives in place, those interested in following a nursing career are given further incentive with regard to various costs attributed to education such as tuition, books, lab fees and other required fees. In return, those opting to take advantage of this educational program would be required to fulfill a commitment to New York commensurate with the amount of time spent in school.
