An act directing the office for the aging, in consultation with the department of health and other entities, to conduct a study of the comprehensiveness and effectiveness of evacuation plans for nursing homes and other facilities housing elderly individuals in the case of an emergency or natural disaster [AB-3863]
This legislation requires the NYS Office for the Aging, the NYS Department of Health, the NYS Emergency Management Office, the NYS Office of Public Security and any other relevant agencies to initiate a study into the comprehensiveness and effectiveness of the evacuation plans (in the event of an emergency, such as a natural disaster or terrorist attack) in place for nursing homes, assisted living facilities and any other facility which houses a population of elderly individuals who are partly or completely dependant on their caregivers. An act to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to idling of heavy duty vehicles [AB-3865]
This bill seeks to implement tougher penalties on people who own, operate, or lease heavy duty vehicles, including a bus or truck, the motive power for which is provided by a diesel or non-diesel fueled engine, and who permits the engine to idle for more than five consecutive minutes when the heavy duty vehicle is not in motion. This legislation grants the commissioner of Motor Vehicles the authority to assign points for violations of section one of this act.

An act to amend the state law, in relation to designating the official state book [AB-3867]
Sets forth the procedure by which the Commissioner of Education can designate the official state book for a period of one year. Every year prior to May 1st, every school district in the state shall submit to the Commissioner its choice for the state book, with such selection being made according to standards determined by the Commissioner. From these selections, the Commissioner selects one book for a period of no longer than one year commencing on June 1st. This bill would seek to curtail pretrial release on recognizance or bail of persons charged with crimes of violence who have certain prior felony convictions or who are charged with committing a crime of violence while at liberty on recognizance or bail for another felony. An act to amend the real property tax law, in relation to providing a tax exemption for certain tax bills paid by members of volunteer fire companies or volunteer ambulance services in certain counties [AB-3899]
