An act to amend the insurance law, in relation to enacting the New York birth-related neurological injury compensation act [AB-2214]
To establish a program which would provide compensation to the families of infants who suffer from "Birth- related neurological injury", a non-progressive impairment of brain or spinal cord which occurred or which could have occurred during pregnancy, during labor, during delivery or in the immediate resuscitation period after delivery which results in a significant impairment in the central nervous system function rendering the infant substantially handicapped.

Prohibits the selling, offering for sale or distribution of any electrical or extension cords with fraudulent seals for the Underwriters' Laboratory; authorizes local code enforcement entities to enforce the provisions of the section; provides that for the first of this section, a one hundred dollar fine shall be issued and such person shall attend a training seminar on how to identify false underwriters laboratory labels and increases fines for the second or more offenses of this section; provides that a training component shall be created and provided by the office of fire prevention and control and shall be made available on its website. Creates election districts for the election of trustees of the Long Island Power Authority; provides for initial elections in December 2010 and for redistricting following federal census data and elections thereafter. [AB-2695]
This legislation would amend Section 1020-d of the public authorities law providing for an elected Board of Trustees for the Long Island Power Authority. The Board of Trustees would consist of 22 trustees with 21 of the trustees to be elected from within the service area, and the Chairman (1) to be appointed by the Governor.
