Explanation of Bill

This bill seeks to amend the public authorities law in the State of New York. The amendment relates to the approval of contracts awarded to owners of nuclear powered generating facilities.

Section 1 of the bill introduces a new subdivision, 3-a, to section 2879-a of the public authorities law. Paragraphs (d), (e), and (f) of subdivision three of this section will not apply to any contract awarded to the owner of a nuclear powered generating facility or facilities. This exemption applies specifically to contracts relating to the provision of the facility or facilities' zero-emissions attributes of generated electricity.

Section 2 states that the act shall take effect immediately upon its enactment.
