Relating to exemptions from mandatory school attendance [HB-2793]
The purpose of this bill is to clarify that a student who is home schooled may not be classified as habitually absent. The bill requires the parent of a child who is to be home schooled to notify a county superintendent of intent to home school, not the person who provides the home schooling along with an assurance that certain subjects will be taught. The bill removes the requirement that the person who provides the home schooling instruction have a high school diploma.
