H.R. 1829 - Conveyance of Pleasant Valley Ranger District Administrative Site to Gila County, Arizona
This bill, H.R. 1829, requires the Secretary of Agriculture to transfer ownership of the Pleasant Valley Ranger District Administrative Site to Gila County, Arizona.
Section 1: Conveyance of Pleasant Valley Ranger District Administrative Site to Gila County, Arizona
In this section:
- County: Refers to Gila County, Arizona.
- Map: Refers to the map titled "Pleasant Valley Admin Site Proposal" dated September 23, 2021.
- Secretary: Refers to the Secretary of Agriculture, acting through the Chief of the Forest Service.
If Gila County submits a written request to the Secretary within 180 days after the enactment of this Act, the Secretary must transfer all rights, title, and interest of the United States in the property described in subsection (c) to Gila County.
The property in question is approximately 232.9 acres of National Forest System land located in the Tonto National Forest in Arizona, as depicted on the map.
The transfer of ownership will be subject to valid existing rights and will be made by quitclaim deed, without any consideration. The Secretary may impose additional terms and conditions to protect the interests of the United States.
As a condition of the transfer, Gila County must bear all associated costs, including survey expenses, environmental analysis or resource surveys required by federal law, and any analysis required to comply with the National Historic Preservation Act.
Notwithstanding a specific section of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980, the Secretary is not required to provide any covenant or warranty for the land and improvements transferred to Gila County.
The land transferred to Gila County must be used solely for the purpose of serving and supporting veterans of the Armed Forces.
If any portion of the transferred land is used in a manner inconsistent with the purpose stated above, the Secretary has the discretion to reclaim ownership of that land.
