The purpose of this bill is to clarify the duties and responsibilities of mental health professionals in West Virginia. The bill provides for a physician, psychologist, licensed professional counselor, licensed independent social worker, advanced nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or law enforcement officer to make an application for involuntary hospitalization. Finally, the bill provides for the Department of Health and Human Resources to provide transportation for individuals who require involuntary hospitalization.
