Homeland Production Security Act

Homeland Production Security Act (HOPS Act)

This bill, officially known as the "Homeland Production Security Act" or the "HOPS Act", aims to amend the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The purpose of this amendment is to prevent the Department of Homeland Security from using funds to buy uniforms that are not made in the United States. The bill was introduced by Mr. Taylor and Mr. Correa and has been referred to the Committee on Homeland Security.

Prohibition on Non-U.S. Uniforms

Section 604 of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 is being amended by this bill. This section deals with the reuse, recycling, and procurement of certain items, including uniforms. The amendment adds a new paragraph to subsection b, stating that uniforms of the Department of Homeland Security, along with their materials and components, must be manufactured in the United States. This means that the department cannot use funds to buy uniforms that are not made in the U.S.
