State, Territory, and Local Government Bailout Prevention Act This bill prohibits the use of federal funds to purchase or guarantee obligations of, issue lines of credit to, or provide direct or indirect grants-in-aid to any state (defined to include Puerto Rico and any other U.S. territory or possession), municipal, local, or county government that, on or after May 1, 2016, has defaulted on its obligations, is at risk of defaulting, or is likely to default, without such federal assistance. Territories Relief Act [S.2682] [Finance ]
Territories Relief Act This bill allows a territory (the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, or the U.S. Virgin Islands), or a municipality of a territory, to petition the bankruptcy court for the judicial district in which it is located to effect a plan to adjust its debts. The chief judge of the court of appeals for the circuit of the district in which the case is commenced shall designate the bankruptcy judge to conduct the case.
