Grants a circuit court, when sentencing a minor for a criminal offense, the discretion to impose a sentence that includes a period of incarceration that is as much as 50% shorter than any mandatory minimum and, in certain cases, decline to impose a mandatory enhanced sentence.

Relating To Ignition Interlock Devices. [SB-150]
Requires consecutive terms of imprisonment for anyone convicted as a repeat or habitual offender if arising from same conduct as conviction for operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock device. Requires any person operating a vehicle with an ignition interlock to have government issued identification in their immediate possession. Extends the lookback period under provisions relating to ignition interlock requirements from five to ten years. AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 39, relative to criminal sentencing. [HB-47]
As enacted, enacts the "Good Samaritan Sentencing Enhancement Act," which provides that a defendant convicted of first degree murder is eligible for the death penalty if the victim was rendering assistance to a person in need at the time of their death. - Amends TCA Title 39.
