Create a new section of KRS Chapter 216B to require a health care provider to order a quantitative and qualitative toxicology test to determine if a cause of an overdose is from an illicit drug if the person exhibits symptoms of an overdose in the health care provider's professional opinion or the person is known to the health care provider to have had previous overdose treatment; require a report of test findings to law enforcement and the coroner if the person dies while in the hospital; limit the public record of the test finding; provide immunity

Coroners. Provides that if a person dies under certain circumstances in a county that is not the county where the incident occurred resulting in the death, the county coroner where the death occurred may not bill the county where the incident occurred for the costs of the autopsy, unless the coroners of both counties agree as to the necessity of an autopsy. Provides the following: (1) Allows a coroner to determine the means of copying an original record of the coroner. (2) With the exception of a record concerning a death subject to a criminal investigation

Amend KRS 72.450 to allow a coroner who is in possession of an unclaimed body to elect to cremate certain unclaimed bodies, in lieu of burial, and either offer the cremains to specified individuals, or inter the cremains provided no inquest has been held or is intended to be held and there is no reason to believe the body will be needed as evidence in any criminal matter or cremation is or may be inconsistent with the decedent's personal wishes or cultural or religious beliefs.
