Maple Tapping Access Program Act
This bill aims to amend the Food Security Act of 1985 to support efforts by State and tribal governments to encourage owners of private farm, ranch, and forest land with maple trees to allow public access for maple-tapping activities. This includes providing grants to States and tribal governments to initiate or expand maple-tapping activities on privately held land. The goal is to increase maple syrup production and ensure that land suitable for maple-tapping is utilized effectively. The bill also emphasizes the importance of maximizing participation, increasing maple-tapping activities, and utilizing additional resources to carry out these programs. The Secretary of Agriculture will be responsible for approving applications and awarding grants, with an authorization of $20,000,000 annually from 2010 to 2014 to support these initiatives.
